The term "investment scam" is no stranger to us. Especially with the numerous cases related to investment scams that involve ordinary people to well-known celebrities. One such case is the DNA Pro robot trading scheme, involving several celebrities with total losses amounting to Rp97 billion. Therefore, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkeu RI) urges everyone who wants to invest to be more vigilant. Especially considering that the modus operandi has become more sophisticated following the advancements in technology, making investment scams increasingly easier to occur online.


CHARACTERISTICS OF INVESTMENT SCAMS

1. Companies do not have clear permits
   Companies offering investment scams are usually not registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and do not have clear permits. Every financial institution must have an official permit from the government to provide financial services. Therefore, before investing, make sure whether the company or institution is registered with clear permits.
   
   
2. Unreasonable offers
   Offers of very high profits that are unrealistic. Generally, the profit expected from long-term investments is around 15% to 20%. Meanwhile, in investment scams, they can offer profits of more than 20% and even reach 100% in a short period.
   
   
3. Minimal information about the company
   Companies engaged in investment scams generally have incomplete information about their products and business. In fact, information about the company is very minimal and difficult to obtain. When the company and its products are hard to find on the internet or with financial experts, it's best to avoid investing in such companies as they are likely to be investment scams.
   
   
4. Using concepts similar to gambling
   The gambling concept often applied by investment scams is where you will be tempted with high profits in a short time, but with very high risks as well.
