PT BNI Life is preparing a special strategy to develop digital products. This strategy is designed to boost insurance literacy and inclusion in Indonesia.
Financial literacy in the insurance sector in Indonesia reached 30.46% in 2022, with a financial inclusion rate of 16.63%.
This data indicates that public awareness of the importance of insurance is increasing, and there is still significant potential for increased purchase of insurance products.
Neny Asriany, the Business Director of BNI Life, believes that the achievement of insurance inclusion in Indonesia can still be further improved and needs to be accompanied by various literacy enhancement programs.
Especially since life insurance is currently positioned as a tertiary need.
Neny stated that BNI Life realizes that raising public awareness about insurance requires an approach beyond mere promotion and conventional marketing strategies.
The company is aware that awareness efforts require product solutions that can meet customer needs, including benefits, affordability, and post-sales service quality.
Therefore, BNI Life proposes financial literacy programs, including life insurance education, starting from an early age.
Financial education should be a mandatory subject in the national curriculum, from elementary school to advanced education levels.
"Of course, breakthrough innovative programs are crucial for the Indonesian insurance industry. We will continue to assist authorities in proactively improving insurance literacy and inclusion in Indonesia," she said.
Neny mentioned that BNI Life has also embraced digitization by selling insurance products through digital platforms such as the PlanBLife microsite and BNI Mobile Banking.
This step aims to simplify the understanding and experience of the public regarding the benefits of insurance products and reach a wider market.
"We are committed to promoting financial literacy and inclusion as well as innovation in the insurance sector, creating a secure financial future for all Indonesian society," she concluded.
