History of Kuningan Day Celebrations to Date

There are not many celebratory activities to celebrate this holy day, because usually Hindu people spend this happy time doing simple activities. Because, this day to ask for prosperity can be considered the best moment for people who celebrate it to accompany the gods back to heaven.

Maybe you and other readers don't know that this Hindu holiday actually only occurred thousands of years ago. So, you can be sure that its history is quite long and contains many interesting stories. For a more detailed discussion, see the complete history below:

  1. The war that occurred during the Bhatara Indah and Mayadenawa era
The war that occurred during the time of Bhatara Indah and Mayadenawa was the beginning of celebrating this day of prosperity. Very different from Bhatara Indah which symbolizes truth and goodness, while Dewa Mayadenawa symbolizes more evil. The war between the two gods lasted for quite a long time, and finally Bhatara Indah became the winner.

Therefore, this holiday in Hinduism is often considered a moment of celebration of success in accordance with the victory of Bhatara Indah at that time. Since then, Hindu people have started celebrating it to send their ancestors and gods back to heaven.

  2. Celebration After 882 AD
After Bhatara Indah won the war against Mayadenawa, the Hindus finally decided to celebrate this holy day every 6 months. More precisely, Hindus celebrate it every 210 days of the year. The first year this holy day was celebrated was 882 AD.

The activities that will be carried out to celebrate this day are relatively simple. Because, in Hinduism, this holiday is more aimed at asking and praying for a long life, a peaceful life, and other prayers like this. So, Hindu people don't need to celebrate with luxurious and busy activities.

As the name suggests, the offerings required for today's celebration will be yellow. Why does the rice in the offerings have to be yellow? Because the yellow color can describe the gratitude directed at Hyang Widhi Wasa for the prosperity that has been given so far.

The Most Common Brass Day Celebrations

There are also quite a lot of people who are curious about the types of activities that can be done while celebrating Kuningan Day. So, here we will also share information about this. These are the various types of activities that all Hindus can do to celebrate Kuningan Day with their families:

  1. Making Offerings
In the previous paragraphs, we said that Kuningan Day will be celebrated by preparing offerings containing yellow rice. However, here we will explain in more detail the purpose of these offerings. This offering is prepared to be offered to a place of worship and its contents are not just yellow rice.

Apart from yellow rice, there are canang meraka and canang burat fragrant. Meanwhile, the bottom or base of the offering will use natural coconut leaves. So, these offerings must be made according to the rules of Hinduism.

  2. Make a Get
Hindus can not only make offerings to celebrate this holiday, but they can also make offerings during this holy day. The contents of the dapetan are different from the contents of the offerings, namely sesayut prayascita, duck meat and yellow rice. So, the only similarity lies in the yellow rice that is included in it.

Then, Hindus can also make tebog containing omelettes, sea fish and yellow rice too, then add puppets made from cucumbers. After the tebog has been successfully made, you can use the taledan as a base. However, if you feel unable to make tebog, then just replace it with an ordinary plate.
