During the amazing 9 months of pregnancy you are required to eat super foods that can support the health and development of the fetus. Unfortunately, along with this super food list, you will also receive a list of foods and drinks that should not be consumed during pregnancy.

Don't be surprised if many of them are your favorite foods, here are 8 lists of foods and drinks that must be avoided during pregnancy.

Fish with high mercury content

Mercury is a poisonous compound that is harmful to the body. In high amounts, mercury can be toxic to the nervous system, immune system, and kidneys. Frequent consumption of mercury can also cause problems with child development.

Fish with high mercury content include shark, swordfish, mackerel, and tuna.

Relax, not all fish have high mercury content. You are advised to eat fish with a high content of omega-3 fatty acids such as mackerel, salmon and anchovies. You can also eat cod and tilapia, which are low in mercury.

Fish and meat half cooked or raw

Bad news for fans of sushi dishes. If you are one of them, then this dish will have to be included in the list of foods to abstain from eating for the next 9 months.

Raw fish and meat can trigger viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, such as norovirus, Vibrio, Salmonella, and Listeria. These infections can cause dehydration and the body to become weak.

Raw eggs

Raw eggs can be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Symptoms of salmonella infection include fever, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. Although rare, salmonella infection in pregnant women can also cause cramps in the uterus, leading to premature birth.

Innards

The internal organs of these animals are indeed a source of many nutrients such as iron, vitamin B12, vitamin A, zinc, selenium, and copper. However, for pregnant women, the portion of the offal menu should be limited, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. Excess vitamin A from animals is at risk of causing congenital abnormalities and miscarriage.

Caffeine

It's hard to start a day without a cup of coffee or tea. Both of these drinks are believed to be the secret of many people in improving mood. But unfortunately, this prima donna drink must be included in the list of drinks that should not be consumed during pregnancy.

Caffeine is absorbed very quickly and easily enters the placenta. Because babies and their placentas do not have the main enzymes needed to metabolize caffeine, high levels of caffeine can simply rise.

Raw sprouts

Radishes and bean sprouts are included in the sprouts family that are susceptible to Salmonella contamination. The moist environment that the seeds need to start germinating is ideal for the Salmonella bacteria to thrive. Sprouts are safer for pregnant women to consume after cooking.

Unpasteurized milk, cheese and fruit juices

Raw milk, cheese and unpasteurized fruit juices contain a variety of harmful bacteria, including Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli, and Campylobacter.

All of these infections can endanger the safety of the fetus, as they can occur naturally or be caused by contamination during collection or storage. Pasteurization is the most effective way to kill harmful bacteria, without changing the nutritional value of the product.

Alcohol

Even since I was planning a pregnancy, alkolol is a drink that should not be consumed because it can increase the risk of miscarriage and stillbirth. There is no tolerance for this drink, Bun, even though small amounts of alcohol have a negative impact on fetal development.
